National consultation on the revision of the National Housing Policy and PSUP3
Stakeholders Consultative Meeting on Revision of the National Housing Policy and the Development of the National Strategy for Informal Settlement Upgrading

NUST is part of the Task Team for the Revision of the National Housing Policy. The team is led by the Executive Directors of the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development (MURD), the National Planning Commission and the Ministry of Finance. It also includes representation of the National Housing Enterprise, the Namibia Housing Action Group (NHAG) and the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia (SDFN). At NUST, the policy revision process is led by Dr Phillip Lühl, Head of the Department of Architecture and Spatial Planning. The draft policy is currently out for consultation, and can be accessed through the following address: https://ilmi.nust.na/node/129
As part of this process, a national consultative workshop was held in February 2022 to discuss this draft document and its implementation plan. About two hundred delegates were convened, including government ministries, local authorities, private sector representatives, civil society organisations, members of academia, international cooperation organisations, and other delegates who joined from abroad through videoconferencing facilities.
The event also included sessions to kickstart the development the National Strategy for Informal Settlement Upgrading, which NUST will co-implement with UN Habitat, MURD, NHAG, SDFN, the City of Windhoek and other local authorities. The project will be led by the Integrated Land Management Institute, and will run throughout 2022. Those interested in learning more about this or taking part can write to ILMI.Admin@nust.na
